Other ways you can provide support.
Not all foster carers can commit to long-term care, and that’s okay! We’re committed to finding a type of care that suits you, your working status, your lifestyle and your preferences. Here are other ways you can support:
Short-term care
You'll be caring for a foster child temporarily, from as little as a few days to two years, as we and Child Safety work on reuniting them with their family.

You'll be there for your foster child for over six months, supporting their growth and providing stability. These children may not have the opportunity to reunite with their family, so your support and care will make a lasting impact on their lives.
Start your journey today.Emergency care
You'll step in when a child urgently needs a home, sometimes with only a few hours' notice. Your compassion and dedication will provide them with a safe haven, even if it's just for a few days or weeks, until a suitable long-term foster home is found for them, giving them the stability they deserve.
Click to provide emergency care.Respite care (short breaks)
As a respite carer, you have the power to make a difference in a foster child's life. By stepping in for a day, a night, or more during weekends or holidays, you provide full-time foster carers with a much-needed break. Your support is invaluable and greatly appreciated in helping children in need within our community.
