Practical help when you leave care
Leaving home is hard enough for most young people, but is even more difficult for those leaving the child protection system who often enter this period with less support.
Our Next Step Plus programs run in Mt Isa and Townsville and can help young people leaving state care get organised and ready for independence. It's free and entirely voluntary.
We can help with things like getting your birth certificate, arranging a Medicare card, helping you get your driver's licence or with arranging a budget.
Our staff can also help you arrange accommodation and food, get started with training, education or job searching and to arrange any health appointments you might need.
If you're 18-25 and have had at least one foster care or residential care experience after you turned 12, give us a call and we can help.
