Celebrating Jacob’s creativity

Kuranya Kids recently held an exciting logo design competition to launch one of their new youth programs.

Kuranya Kids recently held an exciting logo design competition to launch one of their new youth programs, and we’re thrilled to announce that Jacob, one of our young people in care, has been crowned the winner! His logo design will now represent Kuranya Kids, showcasing his creativity and hard work.

In the company of of his carer and support specialist, Jacob’s accomplishment was celebrated with a delightful morning tea, where Ashley, the owner of Kuranya, presented him with several gifts. Jacob received branded hats, bags, and shirts featuring his winning design. In addition to this, Kuranya is also committed to offering Jacob a rich cultural experience at his school - a lovely contribution to his continued growth and development.

Jacob’s journey to confidence

Jacob’s journey hasn’t been easy, but with the loving support of his foster carer, Markeesha, he has truly blossomed. Initially, Markeesha provided fortnightly respite care while Jacob was in residential care. However, in 2023, she made the request to care for him full-time after building a connection with him.

Before his placement, Jacob found it challenging to connect with others, often hiding under tables during lunchtime at school. But under Markeesha’s care, Jacob has transformed. He now plays football and enjoys engaging with other kids, showing a newfound confidence and eagerness to participate.

About Kuranya Kids

Kuranya Kids is a powerful initiative that brings together several Indigenous businesses, including Kurunya Supplies, Alkira Fuel, Banyar Jagun, and Jabil Commercial Diving. Their goal is to create meaningful opportunities for Indigenous youth, leveraging the diverse industries they represent. This collaborative approach ensures that programs like the logo design competition not only support creative expression but also open pathways for future success.

Jacob’s story is a testament to the positive impact that strong community initiatives and passionate foster carers can have on a young person’s life. We look forward to seeing what more Jacob and other young people involved in Kuranya Kids will achieve in the future!
