We were so thrilled to celebrate and spread some Christmas cheer at our Family Fun Day at our Jamboree Heights Campus recently.

Many of our families joined Churches of Christ staff and volunteers for a morning of games, Christmas craft, yummy food and fun activities.

Churches of Christ Service Manager Todd Shepherd said that the event provides an opportunity to connect with clients outside of a crisis, while at the same time creating positive memories for the families.

“The event is free and held at the start of the school holidays every year, to support our families who may be struggling or experiencing extra pressures and additional costs, particularly at Christmas,” Mr Shepherd said.

“Our families enjoyed food and drinks, outdoor games, snow globe making and each child received a Christmas gift, collected and donated by parishioners at Westside Church of Christ.

“We also had a photobooth on site so families could capture a keepsake of the happy memories they had made on the day.

“It was a really fun day and so lovely to see everyone enjoying themselves and families having the opportunity to engage with staff and volunteers in a relaxed environment,” Mr Shepherd said.

Mr Shepherd added that the family fun day is an opportunity bring some light and cheer to clients at what can be a stressful time of the year.

“With school holidays and the additional pressures of Christmas, coupled with a rising cost of living, we are experiencing additional requests for support at this time of year,” Mr Shepherd said.

“The family fun day is a way that we can support families by providing toys for children, access to a meal and activities and entertainment for families to enjoy together.

“Thank you to all of the staff and volunteers who donated their time, goods and services as well as parishioners at our partner Church, Westside Church of Christ, who have all helped to make this event a success.”
