Could your spare bedroom change a child's life?

Enquire Now

Australia has 13 million spare bedrooms.

Could your spare bedroom become a room for safety? A room for care? A room where a vulnerable child becomes simply... a child?

We only need 100 spare bedrooms in the Gold Coast to urgently help children in need.

We work with people from all walks of life, in all life stages.  If you are single or partnered, rent or own your own home, work full-time or are retired, are a stay-at-home parent or don’t have children, a grandparent or young adult…. you can apply to be a foster carer, you just need to be 18 and over, living in Queensland and able to provide a safe, stable and caring home.
If you have thought about becoming a foster carer, make 2023 the year you take the leap and apply.

Make a difference in the life of a child in need.

How we support you.

We provide training and assistance at every stage of your foster care journey, ensuring you feel comfortable and capable of providing the care your foster child needs.

Initial training

Our pre-service face-to-face training course provides you with all the information you need about getting started as a foster carer. This is delivered via group training, across a few different sessions.

Ongoing support

You'll have a dedicated case worker in our Foster Care team who you'll get to know and trust. You can approach your case worker with questions anytime. We also offer ongoing training courses as you continue as a foster carer.

24/7 on-call assistance

You can contact our 24/7 Carer Line anytime in emergency, or if you're needing support with your foster child's behaviour.

Carer groups

We'll help connect you with our other foster carers in your region, so you can create a group or network where you can share stories and solutions with others in the same situation as you.

Communication

You'll have a dedicated case worker you can call for advice. You'll also receive our regular foster carer newsletter each month, featuring important updates and information about events and training opportunities.

Financial support

We'll help you access the government's foster carer allowance - with a base fortnightly allowance starting around $525. There are also other allowances available. There's also a Carer Business Discount Card, offering retail discounts across QLD.

Meet our carers

We have an amazing family of carers looking after children in need right across Queensland.

Meet Karen

Karen finds it emotionally rewarding as a foster carer and says it's something you do because it's in your heart. She says all children need happiness, laughter and understanding, but most of all love and a safe place.

Meet Melissa & Scott - Foster carers

Melissa and Scott have welcomed foster children into their family for 15 years. Melissa grew up with foster siblings, so it felt natural for her to welcome foster children into her family and raise them alongside her biological children.
