Marinia is one of our incredible Lifestyle Coordinators, working at Moonah Park in Brisbane.

Born in Sri Lanka, Marinia spent 17 years in her homeland working as an accountant before migrating to Australia to give her two daughters a brighter future.

After her brave move across the world, Marinia needed to adapt to many lifestyle differences to create the life she’s always dreamed of for her family. Her husband at a bank, and Marinia became the primary carer for her two children in a new country.

Having her life completely change, Marinia decided to pursue a career of her own, seeking a job that would suit her new home situation. Marinia’s vibrant personality made her the perfect fit for the Lifestyle Coordinator role at Moonah Park Aged Care.  Her job at Churches of Christ worked perfectly into the new life she has created in Australia as the shifts were flexible around her busy family schedule.

However, in 2022, she was diagnosed with a large brain tumor after suffering from bouts of dizziness and headaches.

Already juggling the balancing act of being a working mother, Marinia underwent a lifesaving 8-hour operation to remove the tumor. Thankfully, Marinia made a full recovery - a happy outcome for her, her family, and the Moonah Park community.

Marinia has overcome many challenges since moving from Sri Lanka, yet still radiates positivity and love. She deeply enjoys the work she does, finding a great sense of fulfilment in caring for people. The Moonah Park residents and staff love Marinia’s sense of fun, and she often sweeps them up into her exciting activities.

Marinia delights in bringing smiles to the faces of those around her and says her favourite part of the job is spending quality time with her colleagues and valued residents. She loves having the opportunity to chat with people, hear their stories and learn about their lives.

Marinia’s sunny disposition and ‘never give up’ attitude is an inspiration to all who know her, we are proud to have her as part of the Churches of Christ family.
