Strike of joy
At Moonah Park Aged Care, Hazel is always on the go, bringing joy to her fellow residents through her volunteer work and fundraising. Recently, she decided to put some of her fundraising efforts toward a special project: purchasing a tenpin bowling carpet for everyone to enjoy.
Hazel noticed how much her friends loved bowling games and wanted to bring them a more authentic experience. So, instead of a simple mat, she set her heart on finding a carpet designed just for bowling. During one of her physiotherapy sessions, she shared her idea with the physiotherapy team, who were eager to help her make it happen. Together, they researched and found the perfect choice - a six-metre long bowling carpet.
With the physio team reaching out to suppliers, and support from the admin team, chaplain, lifestyle team and management, they figured out how to use Hazel’s funds appropriately. After nearly three months of anticipation, the bowling carpet finally arrived at Moonah Park. Seeing it in person for the first time, Hazel was thrilled. “It looks even better than in the photos!” she exclaimed, surrounded by delighted residents.
Thanks to Hazel’s thoughtfulness and dedication, Moonah Park now has a new activity that everyone can enjoy together. And knowing Hazel, she’s already thinking up more ways to make a difference for her friends.
